Routine Maintenance Tools:

Wire cleaner - a set of different thickness wire cleaning spikes.  Invaluable for ensuring small ports and breather holes are clear.  Recommended for carb and master cylinder rebuilds.
Magnet, hook & spike - a general purpose tool for picking things up, grabbing springs, shims and other hard to reach items.
Feeler gauges - recommended for checking valve and points clearances.
Tappet Adjustment Tools - used for setting valve clearance on many models
Storage Boxes - organize shims, jets and other small parts
Shim tools - used for changing shims on many different double overhead cam models.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Carb Tools:

Auxiliary gas tank - great for setting up carbs as it allows you easy and safe access to the carbs while the bike is running
Float height tools - designed for checking and setting float height when rebuilding carbs
Carb sync tools - these provide the only surefire method of synchronizing the carbs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Engine Tools:

Impact driver
- the VERY first tool any aspiring mechanic should buy.  Without this tool it is next to impossible to remove the softheaded Phillips screws found in many vintage Japanese motorcycles.
Cam chain breaker - if you plan on replacing the cam chain without doing a total engine tear-down, this is THE tool to make life easy.
Leak-down and compression testers - used to assess the health of the engine.  The compression tester shows how much compression the engine has, the leak-down tester helps pin-point where any compression loss is occurring.

Engine Stand - makes engine teardown and rebuild so much easier
Valve Spring Compressor
- used for removing valves from the cylinder head
Valve Lapping Tool - an essential tool for lapping valves in.
Piston Pin Puller - used to remove piston pins without risk of damaging rods and/or bearing
Clutch Hub Socket - that hard to find socket for removing many Honda clutches

Clutch Drum Holder Pliers - allows clutch drums to be held steady while removing center nuts
Valve Guide Driver, Reamer and Hone
- used for removing valve guides, honing and finishing new ones

Pullers, pullers, pullers - great selection of pullers to remove those stubborn stators and rotors

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Electrical Tools:

Battery charger - a must for the garage.  Car battery chargers DESTROY motorcycle batteries.
Multi-meter electrical test meter - whether checking coils, points, battery or the regulator out, this tool allows you to assess the health of the various electrical components
Crimper and terminal tools - if wiring in new components or just repairing existing wiring harnesses, these two tools allow you to pull apart connector blocks, crimp new connectors on wires and much more.
Timing Light - essential for accurately setting ignition timing

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chain & Frame Tools:

Center Jack - used for lifting bikes off the ground to work on wheels, forks and shocks
Chain breakers
- great for removing continuous chain without removing wheels and swing arms, etc.
T-handled sockets and screwdrivers - these long-reach T-handled tools allow easier removal of many nuts, bolts and screws.

Deep Reach Internal Circlip Pliers
- essential tool for rebuilding early master cylinders with deeply seated circlips.
Seal puller - dramatically simplifies fork seal removal
