Decompression Cable

Some of these old bikes have decompression systems which reduces cylinder compression at low RPM. This decompression system helps start the bike relatively easy by reducing the force needed to kick start the bike, and allows for the use of smaller, more efficient electric starting components.  The decompression cable is connected to the decompression lever which, one activated,  briefly opens up an exhaust valve on the compression stroke of the piston to temporarily vent the combustion chamber.
