Decompression Levers

The Decompression lever is designed to help kickstart a motorcycle. On a four stroke bike, when the decompression lever is engaged, it opens the exhaust valve to rotate the engine to top dead center, or TDC. Once the engine has been rotated to TDC, the compression lever is released, and the bike can be kickstarted easily without the pressure that builds up and causes the kickstart pedal to shoot back up.
