Fuses
A fuse is a device with a small thin metal wire that protects an electrical system from too much current. Electrons flow through a circuit, generating heat in the wires of that circuit. The thinner the wire, the harder it is for electrons to move, creating more heat. Too much current and the small wire in the fuse heats up more quickly than the other components, causing it to melt or “blow”. This breaks the current flow and protects the more intricate and expensive components in the system from damage from heat or fire.
