XS-Charge
Our XS-Charge™ XS650 PMA Kits eliminate several sources of frustration for owners of these classic Yamahas. Its 200-watt output far exceeds what the factory charging system can produce. Due to the larger external rotor, a slight amount of typical 360-degree crankshaft, vertical twin vibration is reduced. You may experience a slight increase of bottom end torque while continuing to charge the battery at the same time.
Gone are the carbon brushes that wear over time and lose contact. Gone, too, are the separate regulator andd rectifier on the factory setup or any moving parts on the solid-state XS-Charge XS650 PMA regulator/rectifier. Installation is a snap, as the XS-Charge™ XS650 PMA is designed specifically for the XS650. The high-quality adapter bracket for the regulator/rectifier is simple to mount. The plug-and-play components connect to the factory harness with the matching quick disconnect terminal connectors.
The XS-Charge™ XS650 PMA Kit fits all 1970 - 1979 XS650 models with OEM points ignition or camshaft timed ignitions. It is the simplest, easiest way to upgrade your XS650 charging system. It can even eliminate the battery all together, when used with the optional capacitor kit.
We also offer an XS-Charge ignition for the later 1980-1983 XS650 TCI models. This kit will include a solid-state ignition system compatible to factory original equipment which will reproduce a hotter spark while ensuring battery requirements. Due to the installation of the XSCharge PMA, the factory pulsar ignitor coil must be relocated, and our solid-state ignition can be easily installed.
